Hi - I’m Abbi!
I am a 200HR certified Yoga Teacher in Hatha and Vinyasa yoga, with additional qualifications in Yin yoga, restorative yoga and children’s yoga. I am also a qualified Primary School Teacher, and I have really enjoyed combining all of my knowledge to create my business, Abbi Santosha Yoga. I love the variety that yoga can bring.
In my home yoga studio I offer three different styles of yoga classes; Unwind, Flow and Ignite, along with private sessions and outdoor sessions when the weather allows! (see Studio Classes for detail).
I am also very excited to offer my Yoga In Schools sessions, which include children’s yoga classes and staff wellbeing classes, both taking place in schools, along with my Yoga At Work sessions, which allow people in the workplace to take advantage of some mindfulness and relaxation during the working day.
As a three-time marathon runner, I have never been shy of getting stuck in and focussed on fitness. Unfortunately in the past, this focus meant that I concentrated wholeheartedly on running, and not on warming up, cooling down or stretching, which led to short term and long term injuries. When I started practising yoga using some Youtube videos at home, it didn't take me long to realise the physical and mental benefits of stretching regularly. However, I soon realised that I had been practising some asanas (positions) wrong, and had developed some bad habits that could have easily led to more injuries. Practising yoga with others in a studio setting with a qualified teacher really allowed me to strengthen my abilities, both in practicing the asanas and in being mindful. Yoga gives me the space to unwind and be at one with myself, and so I decided to train to teach yoga so I could help others feel the peace and find that safe space to grow that I had found.
My preferred style of yoga is Vinyasa yoga, as I enjoy the flowing sequences and the combination of breath and movement. I really enjoy feeling like I am working my whole body during a class, whilst also giving my muscles what they need in terms of stretching and restoration. I do enjoy the more relaxing and peaceful yin yoga style classes, especially after a tough Ignite flow, although moving more dynamically appeals to me more on a day to day basis, to bring a bit of cardio and a lot of strength training into my sequences.
I can’t wait to meet you and welcome you into my studio, where we can learn, grow and flourish together! A x
